I am still trying to figure out where to begin for this week.
Last P-Day it was storming and raining all day and we ended up at a less-actives house, Tanya. Tanya is a cool lady and she feeds us a lot. She is from Ohio, so she is my fellow Midwesterner. She actually has a son on a mission in Colorado! Anyway, we made breakfast for dinner with her and I cooked the bacon. Tanya refuses to cook bacon for some reason and I volunteered quickly breakfast for dinner isn't complete without the bacon.
Tuesday. Tuesday Tuesday Tuesday.
Oh yeah. We had a dinner appointment Tuesday with a nice family with A LOT of potential. They have this awesome property and live in an OLD antebellum home. Friends use their property for wedding receptions/weddings/parties. They have a rose garden, play ground, clay patio, pond, geese, nice landscaping. It was beautiful. Anyway, this family was a referral from a family in the branch and the lesson started out really well, but ultimately Mr. Ballard decided that he was not interested, which was hard to hear. It was so weird though because we left the house like shaking because of how spiritually charged the lesson was. We still hold out some hope for the family, they are already religious folks and initially, when we met them, seemed open and willing to listen. It just takes time with some people.
Friday was a normal day, except we got to spend the night out at the our Branch Presidents house and Saturday morning we got to go to the temple with our Branch! It was what we needed and I was really grateful I got to go.
A scripture that has come to my attention this week. It is found in Doctrine and Coventant, Section 128, verse 22:
"Brethren, shall we not go on in so great a cause? Go forward and not backward. Courage, brethren, and on, on to the victory! Let your hearts rejoice, and be exceedingly glad. Let the earth break forth into singing."
Another great scripture on courage is found in the Old Testament, Joshua 1:9. Go check it out!
We were visiting with the Bradshaw family this week and Brother Bradshaw said something that really stuck out to me!
"This is no longer the time of fishermen. This is the time of hunter and finders." He was saying this regarding missionary work now. I haven't really ever been fishing but I know that you use bait and the fish come to you, but in hunting one has to go find the prey. In this time, missionary work is finding those who are being prepared by God to hear the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. Let us all be hunters and finders! Seek out those in your life who might be ready to hear our message!
That's all for this week folks! Halfway through my third transfer, woohoo!
Love,
